Absurd

Sitting in an apartment in San Diego at 2.57am, reading blogs and staring blankly into space every two minutes, while at the same time trying to blink back sleep and the glare from the lamp, seems an ideal moment to lapse back into existentialist thought. While most people would argue that existentialism is inherently negative, I personally enjoy it because it allows me to step back from la vie for a moment and be objective, or as objective as it is possible to be. If you refer to my blog (the one about dreams – I would put a hyperlink back to it here, but I’ve forgotten how to do it, and until some kind soul amongst those here reminds, me, it’s probably not going to happen – also as mentioned above, it’s now 3.02am) you might get an idea about what I am saying. For those who haven’t, there’s a book called “The Myth of Sisyphus”, a very interesting collection of essays where the author uses existentialist thought to logically deduce that there’s meaning to life, even if you are a bum, sitting around all day, doing nothing but drinking and eating god’s creations as someone I know would put it. I can’t remember the author right now, but do try to find it, or hit me back for his name. Sisyphus by the way, was the guy in Greek mythology who was condemned by the gods to forever push a boulder up a hill, and after reaching the top, both man and aforesaid boulder would appear at the bottom to repeat the cycle endlessly. If a man can find meaning in that, it certainly makes for some interesting thought doesn’t it. Our own local “idiot” has a very nice blog as regards some of these issues, and I would recommend everyone read it.

Hmmm, I’ve forgotten why I started this post originally… most probably to fill some space (but don’t tell anyone that, shussssh). Going to hit the sack now. Bon soir
